Ms Splosion Man, the sequel to Twisted Pixel's outstanding (and joyously ridiculous) explosive platformer, hit Xbox Live Arcade yesterday. You'd better believe that we've got a full review in the pipeline, but while you wait, feel safe in the knowledge that Twisted Pixel will be merrily flouting Microsoft regulations to bring you free content and competitions over the coming months.
As with the original Splosion Man, Twisted Pixel will be exploiting the Title Managed Storage feature (that was originally designed to let developers add minor tweaks to their titles by allowing them a space on the Xbox Live servers) to deliver a steady stream of DLC. Microsoft usually doesn't allow developers to add free content to existing games, but hey, major props for Twisted Pixel for finding a loophole and doing it anyway.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Twisted Pixel marketing director Jay Stuckwisch explained that this DLC will primarily consist of weekly global challenges that will occasionally reward the top players with real prizes.
From time to time, we will be awarding real prizes and other fun stuff to the top finishers, and sometimes random players, from the Challenge's leaderboards.
We are finding it harder and harder to 'one up' ourselves with new ways of giving away free stuff to people who buy our games, but TMS has opened an exciting new door for us.
Splode again! Ms. Splosion Man is available now on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points.
