Good news and bad news from the D Hero developer today. The good news is that FreeStyle Games have announced, in a statement to VG247, that they'll be working on a new project in collaboration with Activision, although details have not yet been confirmed. Studio director Jamie Jackson confirmed that 'today we are excited to share with our fans and community the news that we will continue our strong partnership with Activision, with work starting on a new, innovative project.'
Jackson said that things were still very much in their early stages, with the consultation process underway at the studio, and that because of this there'd be no details about the project at this time. He did, however say that the studio is '[looking] forward to sharing more information in the coming months. We’d like to thank the team, our fans, the media and the video game industry at large for their support during this period'.
The bad news, sadly, is that 35 jobs will probably go as a reshuffle is made to accommodate the new project.
'We envisage that approximately 35 roles will be impacted and are consulting with the studio to offer tools and resources, including outplacement counseling services and career fairs etc to those employees affected,' said design director, David Osbourn.
'Although we will be really sorry to lose members of the Freestyle Games family we have no doubt that their talents will be in high demand throughout the industry.'
We wish those affected the best of luck in finding new opportunities!
