If you missed out on Green Man Gaming’s excellent deal for this one at the beginning of the month, fret not, as Steam has unleashed a Midweek Madness offer that may not be the cheapest we’ve seen, but it is currently the best by a fair few pounds. Almost £6 in fact, which makes it quite the saving.
In a twist to the usual mechanics of the God game genre, From Dust has you manipulate the land and various other elements to help you to victory rather than directly ordering the nomadic tribe you are sworn to guide and nurture. With the horrid DRM removed as well, this should be one to get hold of if you fancy something a little different. Thanks to RooGuru @ HUKD!
From Dust is no ordinary game, and Green Man Gaming's price is no ordinary... price. For £2.99, you can nab Eric Chahi's latest masterpiece, where you quite literally shape the fate of a nomadic tribe venturing across harsh, treacherous land that you, a mysterious deity, must shift and shape to their benefit. It can be quiet at times, but never boring, and when a tidal waves looms on the horizon or a volcano bubbles, it's quite the sight. Don't hesitate; treat yourself. You deserve it.
From Dust, the god game/lemmings revamp from the legendary Eric Chahi, is currently available for less than a tenner over at Greenman Gaming with the liberal use of their weekend voucher code. You'll be able to get your fill of envionmental manipulation by way of typing ONLYO-NDIGI-TAL20 at checkout.
There are a couple of important things to point out. Greenman Games' product page suggests that you'll absolutely need to create a Ubisoft account in order to play it, though I hope that you'll subsequently be able to install the patch that deletes the 'always on' DRM. And remember that you'll need to install and play it through their Capsule client.
The Xbox 360 version has been out since the end of July, with PC owners having to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the title. However the wait ends next week, and thanks to Green Man Gaming you can get it for less than a tenner, saving yourself £2 over the next best offers coming from Gamersgate and Direct2Drive. In a twist to the usual mechanics of the God game genre, From Dust has you manipulate the land and various other elements to help you to victory rather than directly ordering the nomadic tribe you are sworn to guide and nurture.
