GAME have announced that they're due to start selling Steam Wallet codes in stores today, offering a 33 per cent discount against them for any trade ins made for a limited time - up until December 7th.
The prepaid cards will be available in denominations of £5, £10, £20, and £50 and will credit the Steam user's account with the relevant funds, much in the same way that the MSP and PSN wallets work on Xbox LIVE and PSN respectively.
"This is the latest initiative offering unrivalled value, range and ease of obtaining digital content for our UK gaming community," said GAME CEO Martyn Gibbs.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Steam as we look to grow our PC gaming communities together. The partnership forms a significant part of our increased offering for any PC gamer which will also include a full digital catalogue available on tablets in store to browse and new ways to pay for digital downloads, making the process easier and more secure than ever."
Quite why you'd go down to the high street to purchase a digital game is beyond us, but at least you can now give your loved ones a tangible Steam-related gift for Christmas now. Perhaps the best we can hope for is that a little micro-economy opens up whereby the prepaid cards drop lower than face value.
Pretty much makes their PC shelf rather redundant, although anyone who's walked into a GAME of late will see that the PC sector has hardly been a priority for the big purple retailer.
