In another effort to move with the times, GAME are starting to tout free-to-play games via their online store.
Creatively titled Free 2 Play, this hub allows customers to browse over to the likes of Need For Speed World, Lord of Ultima and Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances... so, EA titles, then. It's likely that they'll receive commission based on how many players sign up, and presents another potentially interesting way of raising some revenue beyond selling boxed titles and hardware.
"Launching our initial free-to-play offering in partnership with EA is a significant step forward for us at GAME," reads the official announcement. "We’re always looking to bring new ways of gaming to the UK’s gaming communities and we are working hard to make sure we can deliver in every digital arena – free-to-play is just the start.”
So, there it is. Thoughts?
