GAME Won't Stock Asura's Wrath & Street Fighter X Tekken

Yet another publisher has refused to take a gamble on GAME, it emerges this morning. Capcom have confirmed that the high street retailer won't be stocking Asura's Wrath or Street Fighter X Tekken this Friday - not on store shelves, online or via Gamestation.

In a statement made to Eurogamer, Capcom announced that they won't be providing the embattled retailer with stock for this Friday's releases.

Unfortunately Capcom must confirm that Street Fighter x Tekken for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Asura's Wrath, both scheduled for release on Friday March 9, will not be stocked by GAME or Gamestation either in their retail outlets or on their online stores operating in the UK and Ireland.

Capcom also directed buyers towards GAME's competitors (never a good sign), and urged pre-order customers to claim a refund if they ordered in-store.

Capcom wants to reassure its consumers that both these titles, including the Special Edition of Street Fighter X Tekken, will be available at a wide variety of retailers across the UK and Ireland.

For those consumers who have already placed a deposit for a pre-order for any of these titles then a full refund will be available - please contact your local GAME or Gamestation shop or visit the online stores.

All these titles listed above are available for pre-order or to purchase on day of release from the following outlets: HMV, Play.com, Amazon.co.uk, Shopto.net, The Hut and leading independent stockists as well as supermarket chains.

At the time of writing, Capcom still haven't decided whether cooperative shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be available from the GAME Group. Watch this space.

Interesting to note that they aren't supplying for shops in the UK or Ireland. Are the abroad stores being affected as badly? This may be far-fetched - but could GAME shut shop in the UK/Ireland and move abroad?

Bizarrely, GAME Australia are stocking Mass Effect.

Does that have any bearing on things? I really don't know. But you're right, there's an interesting discussion to be had here.
