GAME To Stock OUYA Consoles, Pre-Orders Open

OUYAs have started shipping to Kickstarter backers today, but if you didn't support the tiny cubic console that could, GAME will be stocking them in the UK. Because accurate exchange rates might as well be magical prancing unicorns in this industry, it'll set you back £99.99, while extra controllers will run you £39.99. Pre-orders are now open.

The OUYA has the potential to disrupt traditional console business models by bringing Android, freemium games and homebrew into the living room, but Berman's little beauty faces some unique challenges too. We'll naturally give you the full lowdown when our unit arrives.

Lol - beautifully put.

Great to see the OUYA getting another big internet outlet and a decent foothold on the high street.

Very keen on this, but there's a few big questions need answering before I commit to it. Really looking forward to your impressions.

I hope it does great. The indie revolution at the mo reminds me when I used to go to the shops and pick up a budget game for my speccy for £1.99 from the likes of Codemasters, Gremlin Graphics and other outfits. This seems feels like this could bring back some of that excitement if the games truly are creatively fresh mould-breaking experiences.

Part of me does wonder whether Steam already has the segment of the market this seems to go after in the bag already though: with Big Picture functionality, a big indie selection, and a steam box on the way, Valve seem to be well positioned to run Ouya over once they get going.
