Killer iOS Franchise Goes PS3-Exclusive
Gameloft's Dungeon Hunter franchise is the king of iPhone action RPGs - and I recently awarded 5/5 stars to its latest iteration over at our sister site. However, Gameloft aren't content with just sticking to portable platforms and will be bringing the next Dungeon Hunter title over to the Playstation Network as a full exclusive. If you're annoyed about Torchlight's exclusive status and can't wait for Diablo III, consider this your lucky day.
Dungeon Hunter Alliance will be a full-blooded action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Gothicus. Whilst the story will focus on saving the realm from an evil queen (and descending into hell to do so), the emphasis is on streamlined combat and good ol' fashioned loot grinding. Loads of class options, procedurally-generated gear and randomly-generated maps should provide plenty of content- which can be experienced both offline or as part of a party over PSN. Difficulty will scale according to the number of players, and Playstation Move functionality will also be included.
If it sounds like I'm overtly hyping Dungeon Hunter: Alliance, it's simply because Gameloft have already proved their mettle with the franchise on the iPhone (which is full-fat RPG fodder in everything but platform). You can check out my full review of Dungeon Hunter 2 over at Mobot.net for more details.
This isn't the first time that Gameloft have converted their wares to the PS3. The budget-price Modern Combat: Domination has also made a splash on the FPS scene, which our very own Brendan Griffiths recently awarded 8/10 in his full review. Put simply, we're rather excited about this one- and we'll take a closer look at it when the April release date rolls around.
