Games With Gold: Crackdown Goes Free, Dead Rising 2 & Case Zero To Follow

Following some (totally accurate) rumours yesterday, Crackdown has become the latest free 'Game With Gold' on Xbox Live. Gold members can download it for free, and probably should, since this cel-shaded sandbox fun factory is utterly brilliant.

As predicted, Dead Rising 2 will follow suit on August 16th, along with companion game Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Reviews through the links.

What do you make of this new selection?

Crackdown is a game that I never got around to playing... I'll download it, but there are bigger priorities on my gaming backlog. Not sure I can justify spending my limited gaming hours on a 6.5 year old game when I still have the likes of Tomb Raider and The Last of Us wrapped in cellophane on a shelf somewhere

Crackdown was a fantastic game in it's day.
I'm sure those who haven't played it will still get a lot of fun out of it now. But, as with the previous releases on "Games With Gold", most folk played it a long time ago.

Definitely give it a look if you get the chance, SJH.
Collecting those orbs to increase your strength/agility/etc. is great fun - and (with apologies to Pokemon) you'll soon feel the urge to collect them all.

I'm looking forward to the second half of the month, when they finally release a game I haven't already bought, played, and completed. I think I played a demo of Dead Rising 2, and wasn't tempted to buy it, but for free it's got to be worth another look.

Despite the big backlog of games, and the fact I completed Crackdown years ago, I downloaded it a couple of days ago and have been playing it since. Still a fantastic game :D Really hope we see a third instalment soon.
