Games Like L.A. Noire?

asurasbath |  Jul. 27, 2011 at 12:22

Just finished LA Noire and I loved it. Have ordered Heavy Rain, but are there any other games like those two that you'd recommend?

youve done it the opposite way to me!

i have recently completed heavy rain and i am now mostly through la noire.

and im afraid noire is a good game but doesnt touch the innovativeness (made up word?) of heavy rain.

the only other game i have played in recent times that comes close to these enjoyment wise is god of war 3 and earlier than that batman arkham asylum.

again however, these games are not like the 2 you mention but are still a great run through if you havent played them yet :)

If you're looking for something utterly unique, with a cracking story that verges on the noirish...then you should check out Deadly Premonition.

...that said, the basic game mechanics are so utterly broken that I literally cannot bring myself to finish the game. Jon loves it, though.

Deadly Premonition is probably the definition of a "Marmite game." You'll either love it and forgive its myriad sins or utterly detest every short second you'll spend playing. Both points of view are equally valid - so I'd seriously consider a rental.

Otherwise, check out Gemini Rue. It's an adventure game that takes its cues from Blade Runner and Cowboy Bebop.

It depends in which way you mean. L.A. Noire has lots of influences. Grand Theft Auto is an obvious one in terms of the city and production values. Heavy Rain for putting interactivity and storyline first is another. But in terms of investigating, on PSN there's Red Johnson's Chronicles which is an excellent little detective game.
