Remember local multiplayer? Remember gaming nights? Remember the times when you'd just walk ten minutes down the road to your mate's house and there'd be five other people hanging out as well, and the doorbell goes, and it's the pizza guy, and you game until the early hours of the morning?
Well the folks over at TheAverageGamer remember them well, and they're bringing them back with a new "out-of-home gaming celebration" named 'The Gaming Den'.
What this basically means is that they've hired a venue, stuffed it with consoles, both modern and retro, a bar, and created a monthly destination for gamers ad cosplayers to pop in, hang-out, drink, eat, watch/play some games going on, and bathe in the flickering lights of Aliens: Colonial Marines (this month) matches being projected onto a large wall.
Yes, we did say Aliens: Colonial Marines, but it's the multiplayer bit...which is actually really good.
The launch event is happening from 4pm until late on Saturday 23rd February, so if you're in London for the weekend it'll be well worth stopping by. Tickets are a fiver in advance, and here's a list of the retro stuff they've amassed so far along with the venue address:
