EA has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale will be this year's FIFA box star, alongside Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi. He'll now become a "EA Sports Football Ambassador" - and his first ambassadorial duty is to show us a new limited editon of FIFA 14 that will only be available until the end of the month. We've got the details below along with a video showing off his in-game motion capture work.
“We’re delighted to be working with Gareth Bale," said Dan Holman, Head of UK Product Marketing. "He’s a natural goal scorer and is a perfect fit for FIFA 14’s new Pure Shot feature that allows for numerous new exhilarating and rewarding ways to score. Renowned for his outstanding game-winning goals last season, we’ve worked closely with the EA SPORTS team in Vancouver to motion-capture and 3D head scan Gareth so he will be even more authentic than ever in FIFA 14.”
“To be on the front cover is a massive honour," added the Welsh superstar himself. "When you look at the calibre of players that have been on there in the past they are legends of the game, so for me to be here now is a dream come true.”
Going forward, Bale will be an EA Sports Ambassador, described as "the cornerstone of marketing and advertising campaigns in the UK and Ireland, featuring on packaging and utilised in other media activities." As you can see from the title banner, he's revealed a new FIFA 14 special edition that's exclusively available from GAME, offering 24 FIFA Ultimate Team Premium Gold Packs and other bonus content for £59.99. It's apparently only on sale until August 1st.
