Marcus and Dom return to blast and slice their way through a swarm of locust horde forces, in order to desperately try and save humanity from its utterly relentless and unforgiving enemy.
You can pick up a copy of the game on the Xbox for £8.99 from Play, which'll save you over £3.50 on the next best price of £12.75 coming in from Tesco Entertainment.
You can expect to run into more crazy battles, where you seem to be hopelessly outnumbered as you slide behind a bit of cover and begin to empty clip after clip into anything that isn't human, which was what made the original so popular.
There are quite a few new characters who are all fairly well explored without diverting your attention away from the main characters, and this coupled with many more cutscenes really makes the game feel like an epic cinematic experience.
The gameplay has been noticeably improved by a number of new features, and my personal favourite would have to be the inclusion of moveable cover, as I spent far to much time pinned down behind rock walls in the original. Even if you can't find anything solid to grab and hide behind as you move through the environments, your assailant's corpses can be picked up for a bit of protection. Another nice combat feature are the melee duels, which make dispatching enemies with the chainsaw bayonet a bit more challenging.
Gears of War 2 is a wonderful title that's best enjoyed when your dishing out punishment to the locust horde side by side with a friend in co-op mode, which has been made all the more appealing by this latest price drop.
