Gears Of War 3 Leaked Online

Footage Spills On To The Net

Poor Epic Games. Just months away from the release of Gears of War 3, the climactic conclusion to their stop and pop shooter, and some party-pooper spoils all their fun by leaking an unfinished copy of the game on to the net. It's all happened very fast and very suddenly, as Microsoft has yet to pull all the videos emerging on the likes of Youtube, leaking portions of the game such as the newfangled Beast mode.

The news broke on Neogaf, where user Phloxy took to the forums to warn Gears fans to watch out for campaign spoilers pertaining to the leak. It's quite clear whoever got their hands on this copy of the game - be it a disgruntled Epic employee or daring Microsoft helper - it's very rough, as glitches regularly occur in the footage, texture maps pop in and out and entire swathes of geometry appear unfinished. It seems to be a more fully-featured beta version, as on the title screen the word BETA can be clearly seen.

We don't condone nor encourage a leak like this, as we'd rather steer very clear from spoilers and wish Epic the smoothest launch possible to ensure a fantastic game upon release. As such, we won't be linking to any leaked videos - as if you couldn't find them yourselves! However, as to who may be behind the leak, a bit of digging revealed Epic's servers were hacked early last month, with Gears 3 code stolen. Could be that the same hacker, the mysterious 'contra', has re-surfaced with further evidence of his exploits? [Neogaf]

Well, any publicity is good publicity, this may do epic some good considering the number of high profile releases due out in the Autumn. It may even be a deliberate leak.
