At A Glance: Roundup 5th-11th May 2014

This week DriveClub has been in the headlines again with Sony doing a bit of a Microsoft-style U-turn on a ridiculous policy for the upgrade of the PS Plus version. After the good times last week with their free game deal, Nintendo are back in the dumps this week (despite announcing new Pokemon titles) with poor financial figures and a disappointing approach to gay relationships in one of their upcoming titles. A new free Unreal Tournament game and some exciting new Sunset Overdrive footage cheered us right up though.

In the Reviews, Bound by Flame made a disappointing next-gen RPG debut for the Spiders studio and Hometown Story managed to bore Jon into a small coma. Fortunately we were able to remedy this status ailment with a strong JRPG dose in Etrian Odyssey: The Millennium Girl and a new take on an old classic with Titan Attacks.

In the Features section we have a celebrity-packed Top 10 Tuesdays, a look at some regular gaming favourites we always come back to and a few pieces on Nintendo's Tomodachi Life and  their dated approach to same-sex relationships. Ever keen to provide lots of video footage we have an Opening Scenes vid for Bound by Flame, a Let's Play for Lords of the Black Sun and an extensive series for Nether. Our podcast section includes the usual GameBuzz and Reload news roundups along with a chat about the resurgence of 4X games. There's also a hands-on preview of the awesome Oculus Rift from my trip to Play Blackpool. Don't forget to add your twisted suggestions to our new Challenge Carl feature too!
