Playstation 3 users had to wait until yesterday to finally get their hands on the long awaited Beyond Good and Evil HD, however there was quite a stir when the price was announced, coming in at £11.99 on the Playstation Store. This put it at nearly twice the price that had been issued for the Xbox Live Arcade release, which was priced at 800 MS points (which in real money translates to about £6.80). Understandably, consumers complained and thankfully Sony has listened by responding via their official European twitter account.
Beyond Good and Evil was priced incorrectly, this has now been changed to £7.99/€9.99. Customer who bought at higher price will be refunded.
While it is the price match that some may have hoped for, it’s a significant drop for those who have waited to purchase the remake. Perhaps more importantly, those who have paid the higher price point will get their money back, making it pretty much a win-win situation for all involved. Of course, while this will not have been ideal for Sony considering the events of the last few months, it is at the very least least a step in the right direction in their on-going mission to win back the trust of their customers.
Those of you who have yet to play, or even re-experience, Ubisoft’s grand adventures of the heroic photojournalist Jade should take this opportunity to do so, and for an even better arguement to do so you should check out Jon’s review for the HD remake.
