OnLive has signed a new deal with Marvell (no, not the comics), that will allow all devices powered by their ARMADA 1500 chipset to access the streaming games service. This includes all second generation Google TVs, meaning that these new smart tellies will feature streaming games out of the box.
“OnLive’s focus is to make the highest quality gaming accessible to everyone, anywhere and anytime they want it," said OnLive Founder Steve Perlman."With Marvell under the hood, we are able to deliver the highest-quality, on-demand gaming experience on groundbreaking devices and systems like Google TV."
Streaming games are fast becoming more relevant despite the uneven distribution of half-decent broadband throughout the UK, especially now that Sony have acquired Gaikai (who will almost certainly be put to work helping to revitalise the next generation of Bravia televisions). It will be interesting to see whether the next generation of smart televisions take off, and what it will mean for gaming as a whole.
