Game Freak often re-release vintage Pokemon games for new hardware during off years, and they're set to do the same to Ruby and Sapphire this November. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are slated to launch on 3DS in time for Christmas, presumably sporting retooled visuals and a few new features while leaving the core gameplay largely untouched. Nintendo are coy about whether the new double act are full remakes or remasters, but promise a "new world" and a "new adventure." We'll keep you posted - personally I have a soft spot for Generation III.
Considering Ninty's latest financials, a new(ish) Pokemon game is probably exactly what the doctor ordered. When in doubt, you can rely on the 3DS, which has been an utter beast over the last year and seems set to continue the trend.
