Green Man Gaming Will Start Selling Boxed PC, PS3 & Xbox 360 Games

Week Of Deals Incoming

Digital distributor Green Man Gaming will start getting physical [groan - Ed] this August, offering full boxed retail editions of certain PC and console games alongside their traditional client downloads.

“Green Man Gaming’s rapid growth has been driven by our commitment to deliver a simple, seamless experience to core gamers - offering choice in the way they want those games. As a UK company it was a natural choice to deliver the UK first, but we are by no means finished there!"

“We’re already established in the digital space where the rest of the retail market is slowly turning its attention, so adding PC boxed, PS3 and Xbox 360 games gives us a much wider portfolio of key titles for our core gaming audience, and for the Playfire community. With more than £1.4bn spent annually in the UK alone on boxed games product, we believe there’s room for an agile, ambitious E-commerce retailer like GMG to provide this service in the UK and beyond.” - GMG Managing Director Paul Sulyok

To celebrate Green Man Gaming’s entry into boxed product, the young British upstart will offer gamers a selection of opening week deals between Friday, 27th July and Thursday, 2nd August. Gamers will be able to pre-order Darksiders 2 or Sleeping Dogs for £19.99 on PC (boxed) or £29.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360 on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th respectively. The full week of special daily deals will follow, including titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Borderlands II, Hitman Absolution and Guild Wars II.

With most retailers desperate to go downloadable, it's interesting to see a digital-only vendor segue into more traditional boxed retail. We'll keep an eye on their celebratory deals.

Well that isn't half as cool as i was expecting, for a second i thought that they were going to sell the old games they already offer but in a new boxed format.
