GTA IV: Vice City RAGE Coming This Winter

We all know that Vice City is the best of the GTA games, and thanks to a squad of dedicated modders going by the name 'RAGE Team', a GTA IV mod similar to the one that was done for San Andreas will be bringing back the pastel sunsets, rolled up suit sleeves and 80s hedonism that typified Rockstar's homage to Scarface...now neatly bundled up using the Rockstar Advanced Graphics Engine. The team are, in fact, reworking the engine to give this particular mod an extra shade of authenticity, with a BETA release planned for Christmas 2011.

Vice city the best GTA game? I take it you never played San Andreas then?

The first title which dared to do something different with the series, taking it away from claustrophobic feeling city scapes and injecting some rural flair into it - the story worked really well too, can't say I remember VC's too fondly.

Got to say I agree with SD on this one; San Andreas was definitely my favourite of the series with its copious amounts of content & activities, which is probably why I felt GTA IV fell flat for me initially. As such I'm more interested in the San Andreas mod and will be checking out the beta download for it soon.

That said, this Vice City mod is looking sweet, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes along.

For a second I thought that id Software were taking a radical last-minute new direction with RAGE...

On a serious note, I'm a fan of San Andreas, but I'm a sucker for Vice City's colourful art direction and copious references to Scarface.

I also agree - for me i always preferred Vice City to San Andreas. Im a sucker for the 80s aesthetic and music and the size of the game was just perfect.
Whilst impressive, San Andreas was a bit too big for me and ended up losing its focus a little.

This is why Vice City Stories on the PSP is the best game...because it's essentially what you get if you smoosh VC and SA (which was undeniably brilliant, I agree) together. You get th eupgraded mechanics and empire bulding of later games with the charm and perfectly realised setting that VC offered.
