GTA: Liberty City Stories £4.95 @ Zavvi [PSP Game]

Hijack a car, throw its owner onto the road, drive recklessly, amassing a police entourage before careening into the river and writhing to death. Trademark Grand Theft Auto, now available on the go! Zavvi are offering Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for only £4.95!

Thrown into a price-comparison, Zavvi’s offer for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories proved to be the cheapest available, with a three-pound saving! Liberty City Stories was an enormous success, earning 88/100 on MetaCritic, a perfect 100 Score from GamePro and, to date, it has sold over eight million copies worldwide.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is set three years prior to the events of the third game, following the plight of Antonio "Toni" Cipriani, yet another GTA protagonist unconcerned with murder, robbery and general mayhem. Toni has been in hiding since being ordered to kill a ‘made man’ by Salvatore Leone, the Don. Now returned, Toni is swept into the Don’s plans once again, with danger lurking around every virtual corner.

Liberty City Stories is, simply, a wonderful game, and a testament to the developers ability to cram the GTA experience onto a portable console, managing to distill the experience to its core components and yet, on many levels, surpassing GTA 3, the game it most resembles. Graphically, it's spectacular for a PSP game, with the busy streets of Liberty City home to roving citizens, rumbling cars and suspicious cops. Sadly, the combat is still clunky, but it’s a minor flaw for such a good game.
