GTA Online: Rockstar Won't Pay Out Stimulus Package Until They Fix The Biggest Bugs

Despite promises made last week, Rockstar still haven't given Grand Theft Auto Online players their cool quarter-million, the first instalment of an in-game currency apology for the rocky launch. The reason? So you don't end up losing all of it.

Rockstar explained the situation in a NewsWire comment, suggesting that they don't want to give out the GTA$250,000 until they're convinced that the progression loss bugs have been thoroughly fixed. Otherwise, players might end up losing their characters along with the payday.

"We hope to have an update for you very soon," the missive reads. "As others have mentioned here, we of course want to make sure player progress loss issues are addressed before providing everyone with their GTA$500K. Thanks for your patience and please stay tuned.”

Repeat mission rewards were halved in the latest patch, so I daresay plenty of players are rather excited about the forthcoming cash injection (not to mention plenty of features that haven't been implemented as-yet). What will you spend it on - when and if it arrives?

I finally passed $200k yesterday - and bought my first property. A nice apartment with a ten car garage. Fingers crossed I don't lose the **** - I thought they'd already fixed the problems.

I still think the $500k give-away is unfair. It's impossible to properly compensate people who've suffered, but there's got to be a better way. (I believe they know how many hours each player has spent online. Perhaps give people $10k for each hour they've spent online. Still unfair that folk who played loads but lost stuff are behind those that played loads and lost nothing - but at least they're ahead of those who've spent only an hour per week online.) Too late to change their plans now, though, I guess.

Not sure what to do with my half mil, when it finally arrives. Another couple of apartments, perhaps? I assume you can own more than one. Or try to get a mil, to buy an Adder?

Still thoroughly enjoying GTAO, and have played it quite a bit this week. Could've had a lot more cash if I made it a priority (I assume the best grinding is on short races, or Survival missions, but I'm not sure - perhaps someone can confirm?) but I've been prioritising having fun instead - and for me personally that means playing the "Top Fun" missions. One team has fast cars and win if one of them gets to the other side of the map. The other team has fighter jets. Fantastic fun :D - but the cash and reputation rewards are incredibly low. (I think you actually get more money for coming 16th out of 16 in a race than you get for successfully using a fighter jet to take out 4 very fast cars in Top Fun.)

To be honest, I did grind the hell out of the game for a while. And I was miserable - don't do it! When I stopped grinding for $, and just started playing the game for fun, I enjoyed it way more.

You can win some serious cash on the short races. The one round the prison is the most popular - if you team up with a friend and just race the two of you, if you throw in bets as well, you can win an average of around $3.5k per 30 second race. The racing otherwise against randoms drives me insane. I hate it, you might as well just play rock, paper, scissors.

Survival isn't so good, but I enjoy it more. If you complete wave 10 (which can take probably 40 minutes ish?) you win $20k.

You can only own one apartment/garage. Bit disappointing really, I wanted several. The only advantage you'll get from upsizing is a snazzy looking pad, and being closer to the vinewood area (where all the posh cars are).

You could save the money up for a helicopter? They are really useful for missions, some of the missions require one but finding one that spawns on a mission can be a pain in the ****. I'm currently saving for a Buzzard, only $400k left to go...

But yeah, $10k per hour played (or whatever per hour) sounds like it would have been a far better idea. The stats do track how long people have played so they should easily have been able to do it...

Yeah you can only own one apartment at a time from what I've heard. If you have a 10 car garage then you shouldn't really need to buy another. I'll probs use my 500k for cars, boats, helicopters etc. Weapons can be pricey too.

I've been mainly grinding short races which if you win can be 10-13k in two or three minutes each. Survival is good aswell. A few of us have boneyard survival down to 20 mins which is 20k for 10 waves.

Damn. Well that sucks.
Do you get any compensation or discount for the old place if you upgrade to a new one?

Glad I went for a fairly expensive one from the start instead of buying a cheapo one first. Would've waited a bit longer had I known you can only have one, but I don't imagine there's much real benefit in the $300k pads over the $205k one I bought. Seems a decent size apartment (not that there's much to do in there), and has 10 car garage, so hopefully I won't need to throw it away.

All the apartments with the same size garages look the same anyway (so 10 car garage apartments look the same as every other 10 car one for example). The only thing you're paying for on the more expensive ones is a better view.

I'm not sure there's any point buying a chopper either. You can find attack choppers everywhere as you get higher rank, and yeah they don't often spawn in missions, but you can call merryweather and get one from them. It would be nice to have your own, but considering how much they cost, I don't think it's worth it.

I'm getting pretty bored of the game now, it's just a total grind. I'd probably be having more fun if you could actually play team modes with your friends on your team properly. From what I've seen, you either play with team balancing on and never end up on the same team, or turn it off and end up with like 6 vs 2.
