Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition launching into Xbox One Games With Gold

That's more like it.

Guacamelee! has been a PSN and PC darling for quite some time, but its new Super Turbo Championship Edition is set to bring the superb Metroidvania platformer to new... well... platforms. Xbox 360, PS4 and Wii U owners will be able to get on board for £11.99.

However, Xbox One Gold Members won't have to pay anything during July, as the brand new XBLA release will launch straight into Games With Gold on July 2nd. It's set to replace Halo: Spartan Assault, so be sure to grab the underwhelming yet solid Halo SHMUP while you can!

Xbox 360 Gold Members can expect to receive Gotham City Impostors and Battleblock Theatre gratis next month.

What do you make of it? Personally, though the new update is heavy on XBLA releases, I'm pleased to see Microsoft organising some compelling promotions for brand new software - which has proven very popular for Sony with the likes of Resogun, Outlast and Mercenary Kings.

I'm disappointed.

I guess I didn't read the small print properly. They're giving us two games every month, but one of them will be a repeat?

Fingers crossed for two new ones in August, but I'm not overly optimistic.
I'd imagine next month they'll give us one new one (my money's on Lococycle or Crimson Dragon) plus one old one (presumably either Spartan Assault will return, or they'll roll Guacamelee forward).

I'll definitely download Guacamelee, and give it a look, but I'd been hoping they'd dazzle us for the first few months to rope more people in - perhaps with Zoo Tycoon or Ryse.
(Incidentally, I have Guacamelee on Steam, but it's in that massive majority of games that have made it into my library but haven't yet made it as far as my HDD.)

Damn you Microsoft for making me I sound ungrateful for receiving something for "free", now!

Remember that if you currently have an XB Live account with the 360 and are planning on getting a XB1 in the future if you login into your account on Xbox.com you can "Purchase" the free XB1 games for £0.00 and when you finally get a XB1 in the future you will be able to download the games as you've previously purchased them. Only a few days left to pick up Spartan Assualt.

Good call, Alar :)

Guacamelee is good I played in on ps. But it would be better if it was more like cod . Maybe they could add DLC for it that lets you play as a dog? That would be great.

@Alar: Absolutely, always worth remembering to claim free stuff just in case. Same with PS Plus freebies!

@TheChappy: Haha, yeah, don't forget a season pass and presumably an Antonio Banderas voice pack too!
