Team ICO is all but disbanded as The Last Guardian steadfastly refuses to release, but two of the artists behind the project have set up a brand new studio and revealed a brand new adventure. Vane is just as bleak and pretty as you'd expect, starring "a child with an odd ability stuck in a strange land."
Let's face it, we'll probably end up playing Vane before The Last Guardian comes out. Details below.
"Vane is a single player game about exploring a world and it's mysteries, about unraveling the forces behind this strange land,"Rasmus Deguchi explained on the new studio's blog. "As such we will have to balance some story reveals here and there to keep you interested without spoiling too much, so apologies in advance if things sometimes are a little vaguer than you'd like - it's our goal to be as forthcoming about the game as possible without ruining things."
Friend & Foe comprise five industry veterans. Both Deguchi and Rui Guerreiro worked on The Last Guardian for many years, while Ivar Dahlberg, Thomas Lilja and Victor Santaquiteria count Killzone, Battlefield 3 and Bionic Commando on their gameography. "All in all we are super excited to go indie and share our development with the world," Deguchi explained. "We hope you'll like it too."
Vane certainly looks intriguing at this incredibly early stage, but details are practically non-existent. We'll naturally keep you posted as we learn more.
