PSN & XBLA Players Get A Free Copy

Guardians Of Middle Earth, the Lord Of The Rings MOBA developed by Monolith, has finally been confirmed for a PC release after spending several months on PS3 and Xbox 360. Better yet, if you already own it, you'll can nab a free code for the base edition.

Promising "epic battles and heart-pounding action", Guardians Of Middle Earth allows players to assume the role of 36 Middle Earth characters, including the likes of Gandalf, Galadriel, Gollum and Elrond. It's a neat way of settling some of the 'who would win?' fantasy battles in 5v5 showdowns.

The PC version includes three modes, six maps and the Survival Mode that was previously only available as premium DLC. However, your choice of characters depends entirely on which edition you opt for. The £14.99 base version offers Gandalf, Galadriel, Thráin, Gollum, Hildifons and Legolas and their alternate skins, while the £60.99 Mithril Edition comes complete with all 36 playable Guardians, 36 alternate skins, the Mithril Guardian Relic and a buddy key.

Guardians Of Middle Earth releases on Steam and other digital distribution platforms on August 26th. Excitingly, players who have previously purchased Guardians of Middle-earth on PSN or Xbox Live "will be eligible to receive a PC download code for the base game." We'll be back with more details nearer the time.

I own the 360 version of this, it's a pretty fun game but it really doesn't hold up to the likes of LoL, DOTA2 or Smite. £60 for all the content is pushing things.

The main problems I have with it is there's no in game shop so your out of game loadout is how you scale in game and every character has a slow, root or stun so nothing really feels all that special.

Still it's a fun game and I could see myself giving the PC version a shot.

Ha.. hahahaha £61 for the complete game? What planet are they on? When I saw the original announcement I thought 35 heros, it might be worth a go for under a tenner. But £61, have they not heard of the free to play LOL,DOTA2, etc?

Worse case it should of been free to play with heros on rotation, if you liked a hero you could buy them for use all the time for a small fee. (a few pounds).

I'm sorry I'm going to stick with the 100+ heros in Dota 2, for free. Who knows I might even splash out for a key or a cape or something :P
