But Only For 48 Hours!
Last night the news that fans of ArenaNet’s upcoming MMORPG were waiting for finally arrived; the sign-up page for the Guild Wars 2 beta test is live and ready to take your details.
By heading to the sign-up page here (and be warned, there are several scam sites trying to take advantage of the excitement) you will get onto the waiting list to finally experience the long-awaited MMORPG for yourself. The process requires you to download and run the “Scannertron” program which will send off your computer’s DXDiag details to the developers, after which you will be required to enter some further details.
Don’t panic if you haven’t signed up just yet and fear being thrown to the back of the line, as ArenaNet confirmed last night on Twitter that participants will be chosen based on development needs rather than a going on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. However, you do only have until Friday afternoon to throw your name into the proverbial hat, so you’d best get a move on if you do want to get involved.
Guild Wars 2 promises to break the standard MMO template by getting rid of the “MMO Holy Trinity” and allow players to play however they wish, with whomever they wish, as well as move away from the typical trappings of end-game content. If you want to whet your appetite some more in the meantime you can check out our preview from Gamescom last year here, our video interview with Lead Designer Eric Flannum here, and our PVP hands-on preview here.
