We’ve got even more MMO news for you today, although this time in a more positive light. Publishers NCsoft have announced that Guild Wars 2, which officially launches today, has already tallied up one million sales thanks to its pre-purchase program. Those who put money down ahead of the launch have already been playing the MMORPG since Friday, with a peak concurrency of 400,000 users online at once.
“This is the culmination of a five-year journey and to be greeted by this level of enthusiasm by our fans is truly amazing,” said Mike O’Brien, president and co-founder of ArenaNet in a press release issued this afternoon. “But really our work is just beginning. Now our focus is shifting to building on this living world we’ve delivered, continuously refining our game and improving services to ensure our players have the best possible experience”.
Although the headstart period has not been without its headaches thanks to connection issues and an out-of-action auction house, the early indications are that ArenaNet have a potential winner on their hands with Guild Wars 2. We here at Dealspwn have already been getting involved with the headstart period, and you can expect the first part of our review in the very near future.
