A superb deal here from Tesco Entertainment. They are currently offering copies of Guitar Hero 5 (stand alone game) on the Playstation 3 for just £17.87. According to price comparison, the next best deal comes in close to £30, so you’re getting the game for almost half-price!
By now, there cannot be one single gamer out there who has not experienced the phenomenon which is Guitar Hero in some shape or form. Now up the fifth iteration of this classic series, Activison are certainly keeping up the momentum, and by all accounts, this is the best edition to date. Although the core gameplay principle still remains the same in Guitar Hero 5 – you still strum along on your plastic guitar in time to various rock tracks whilst trying to gain star power for pulling off the tricky note arrangements – Activison have made several welcome changes.
For a start the whole menu system has been streamlined. It’s now easier than ever to just get straight into the game and navigate through the menu, with a juke box-type-set-list appearing as soon as you switch it on. Activison have also decided to drop all of the storyline nonsense and money bonuses, and now players can drop in out of the game as they choose, add more players and change difficulty without having to keep restarting. The game allows players to have the whole band experiences (bass, drums, guitar, vocals) but it’s also possible to have any combination you want – because no one likes to be stuck with the boring bass!
For those who have not got themselves a copy of Guitar Hero before, number five is a great one to get started. But do bear in mind however (and unbelievable there are still people who think so) playing Guitar Hero does not mean you'll be able to play the actual guitar!
