Halo 4: The Reclaimer Trilogy

The first Halo Fest is well underway over at PAX right now, and details have begun dribbling out from their Halo 4 panel. Since its announcement at E3 in June, Microsoft and 343 have confirmed the fourth canonical title will kick-start an all new trilogy of games on Microsoft's platform. Well, now we have a title: The Reclaimer Trilogy.

Any Halo fan worth his MJOLNIR will know the word 'Reclaimer' refers directly to Master Chief; a title adorned on him by caretaker, 343 Guilty Spark, in reference to Chief's resemblance to the maniacal AI caretaker's former creators. We all knew the Chief was the star of this series, but this title suggests Halo 4 will delve deeper into the enigmatic Forerunner history. Some fans even speculate the planetoid Chief is plummeting towards in the teaser trailer might be a galactic safe-house some Forerunners retreated to when the Halo array was first activated. Let the nerd banter commence!

It seems alot of websites are getting a bit confused with the word Reclaimer.

Its not a title specific to the Master Chief, 343 Guilty Spark uses the term Reclaimer to refer to Humanity as a whole, Humanity are the "children" of the Forerunners (as revealed in Halo 3) he called Miranda Keyes and Sgt Johnson Reclamers in Halo 2 & 3

In my fantasy Halo canon, the mysterious planetoid is none other than Lh'owon.

EDIT: I'd provide a wiki link, but the apostrophe plays havoc with our BBCode.

Sadly, with Bungie having severed all ties, the Marathon angle will probably never bear fruit.

I don't know about that, Jon. A lot of former Bungie staff at 343, plus the Marathon ties are almost inherently linked to Halo's DNA. They are, after all, sort of the same game!

Bless you for trying to give me a little hope, mate, but Bungie renewed the trademark for Marathon earlier this year. I fear that relations between Bungie and 343 aren't quite strong enough to unite the two franchises now - even if it was their original intention.
