According to an interesting tidbit from RTX2012, Halo 4's Forge Mode will feature a host of new improvements... and hails from the developers behind the Crimson Alliance XBLA RPG.
As reported by The Verge, Certain Affinity studios made their latest (and biggest) Halo collaboration official at this year's Rooster Teeth eXpo; this of course after developing a number of map packs for the franchise.
New features will include the ability to 'lock' objects to the map, ensuring that you can't accidentally move them out of place, one-button duplication and magnetizing objects to stick them together. A new lighting engine will allow players to tinker around with casting their own shadows, while 'Player Trait Zones' can be set to alter player characteristics within a given area (e.g. run speed, jump height, damage reduction etc). Greenhorns will appreciate better cursor highlighting, tooltips and displayed object names, which should make Forge Mode less intimidating for newcomers.
Halo 4 will release on November 6th 2012, exclusively for Xbox 360. We hope that its Forge functionality will attract a new wave of avid map designers and grant 343 Industries the community they need to move forward with the franchise.
