We're big fans of Halo here at Dealspwn. Big. We often engage in spirited canon conversation that usually ends in harmless fisticuffs. I still believe Grunts can fly. However, in celebration of Halo's tenth anniversary, Microsoft is throwing the swankiest of swank celebrations during PAX Prime over in Seattle, with Halo Fest taking place on August 26th to August 28th. And amongst all the makeshift Master Chief costumes and Elite cosplay, might we be seeing some surprises, too?
Microsoft is pitching Halo Fest as "the largest and most expansive live Halo experience ever" on their Waypoint channel. Tournaments, exclusive prizes and mouthwatering panels are on the agenda, and Microsoft is promising to reveal how the last ten years of Halo are "just the beginning". We know 343 Industries, the studio set up by Microsoft for the sole purpose of supporting and supplying Halo games, is hard at work on something.
And for months, now, rumours have persisted of a Halo: Combat Evolved remake, from either 343 or Timegate developers, Saber Interactive. With Bungie's swansong, Reach, a distant memory to most fans, attention has turned to what's next. Master Chief is still lying dormant in space, the severed half of Forward Unto Dawn drifting in-orbit of a curious planet.
Might the Chief be making a triumphant return at Halo Fest? We'll find out, late August. [Eurogamer]
