4 games, 100+ maps, 4000 Gamerscore, Halo 5 Beta

All the Halo ever is coming to Xbox One.

We knew that already, but didn't know that Microsoft was taking that very literally. The Master Chief Collection has officially been announced, a single disc containing Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 Anniversary Edition, Halo 3 and Halo 4 along with 4000 GS worth of achievements. However, the collection will also contain every multiplayer map from all of those titles, including Halo 2's multiplayer suite in its entirety.

With the exception of Reach and ODST, this is about as "complete" as it gets. Even before you factor in extra content too.

As mentioned, the Master Chief Collection includes remastered anniversary editions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 alongside retouched versions of Halo 3 and 4. The action will run in 1080p, with the ability to set up cross-game mission playlists for cooperative 'best of' shenanigans via a "unified interface." Achievement hunters will be able to clock up an impressive 4000 GS worth, meaning that the upcoming snappable achievement app will come in very handy indeed.

In terms of multiplayer, the action is built around Halo 2's multiplayer framework, meaning dual-wielding, Spartans vs Elites and all the classic mainstays. However, every single map from the entire series is included -- over 100 -- running on their original engines and dedicated Xbox Live servers.

Not enough? No problem. The Master Chief Collection will also contain a Halo miniseries and Halo 5 multiplayer beta access too.

Last-gen games on new-gen hardware, sure. But so long as it doesn't cost a bomb, this is going to shift a fair few Xbox Ones.

We'll see you in Blood Gulch.

So you are able to play every single multiplayer map from across the entire Halo series in a single game? So one match could be on a Halo 2 map, the next could be Halo 4? Do you think it will allow you to use any/all weapons from across the series or will the guns/gameplay be tied to the game/era it was from?

If it's not tied and it's a free for all, then that's epic - I just wish CoD (IW games) would do the same so I can play CoD4, MW2 and MW3 in a single game of epic mapness.

I assume that there's one multiplayer suite/interface that lets you play matches on any map in any order/gametype- in terms of weapons it's anyone's guess.
