The next iteration of Ubisoft's arcade flight sim is preparing for takeoff... and While the original didn't quite manage to truly get off the ground, this latest version is hopefully shaping up to be far more authentic whilst retaining the fist-pumping awesomeness of air combat. PS3 fans currently have a great opportunity t, since Coolshop are currently retailing at £28.49. This will save you over £9 compared to ShopTo (the nearest competitor) and is a good price for any new PS3 title. Note that prices are liable to fall and quickly rise before release- so we'll be keeping an eye on the situation in case it's worth changing your order down the line!
We featured H.A.W.X. 2 in yesterday's news roundup thanks to a hefty Ubisoft press package, but here's the rundown. This time around, Ubi will be throwing in a number of authentic logistical manoeuvres to make the experience more rounded and authentic; including carrier landings, mid-air refuelling and the all important taking off.
New combat mechanics include precision armaments for pinpoint strikes and some new cinematic situations (including flying through wicked anti-air fire viewed through a night vision HUD).
Ubisoft has also hinted that we'll be supporting a "very familiar team" this time around... so the smart money's on Mitchell's Ghost Squadron making another cameo appearance. H0wever, the new precision weaponry would allow us to tactically support the Rainbow Six HRT or a Third Echelon operative. Here's hoping.
