Another 'heads-up' deal for you. Hot on the heels of GAME's trade in deals comes a listing from ShopTo that's looking to undercut the competition by a good tenner at least when it comes to the pending release of the new sleek Xbox 360. Whilst a number of other are far closer to the £200 mark, ShopTo appears to have stuck up the console for £184.85 which will certainly save you a few quid.
There's a catch though...ShopTo haven't opened up the listing for orders yet, they're simply teasing us with the price and sitting pretty at the moment. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on if you're interested and well be updating this post as soon as the console goes live. We've popped a message along to ShopTo and will keep you in the loop as soon as we hear back.
UPDATE [10:20]: The product is now live and available for pre-order!
I made my position relatively clear yesterday, a singularly surly response considering my 60GB Pro bricked itself three weeks before E3 and I was forced to buy a Jasper chip Elite, but it's telling that this new console has whipped up fanboys on all sides into a delicious frenzy. Xbox fans are psyched to finally have something that works, includes N wi-fi and doesn't sound like a drunk hippo snoring and of course the forums are full of them blowing off some elated steam. Hell, on the HUKD thread some misguided chap is even asking for tips on how to force his current machine to RROD so he can justify buying a slimmer model.
Bumping off a noisy fatty to upgrade to a more visually appealling model? Sounds like an episode of Desperate Housewives.
Of course, the PS3 lot have been out in force too, determined to make sure no one gets too excited - after all, Microsoft haven't exactly stuffed this one with new features, and they want to make sure everyone knows that the PS3 is still superior. But then they have short memories and forget that the only military entity on the planet to have used nuclear weapons is still a little pissed at Sony for removing OtherOS.
To be honest, it doesn't matter which side of the fence you fall on, it's been a long time coming and Microsoft have finally pulled their finger out and made an Xbox that fixes the (many) problems of its ill-fated predecessors. This is a triumph for everyone really and even though I'm still pretty angry at Microsoft (and my own stupid timing), it would churlish of me to say that I don't want one. I mean just look at it. It's badass!
A healthy dose of kudos to RAZDAGR8 at HUKD for sniffing this one out last night.
