Sony recently confirmed that PS4 owners will have to download a 300MB patch to access a frankly staggering amount of basic functionality, not limited to Blu-Ray playback and online multiplayer. On the plus side, it shouldn't take long to download, and impatient players can get stuck straight into their launch titles while they wait.
Sony's Shuhei Yoshida once again leapt on Twitter to answer some pressing fan questions. When asked whether the patch could be downloaded in the background, he simply answered "yes," meaning that you should be able to get involved with Killzone: Shadow Fall or Knack straight away and subsequently install the update when convenient. Here's hoping that Sony's servers are ready to take the strain.
In slightly less exciting news, Yoshida also confirmed that the PS4 won't support custom wallpapers, with the exception of Facebook profile pictures.
