Sniper Challenge To Keep Us Busy Until Novemeber
Io Interactive have announced that Hitman: Absolution will finally be in the hands of gamers everywhere on November 20th. While the wait may be a disappointment for some, Io have also announced a special bonus for anyone who pre-orders Agent 47's return called the Sniper Challenge.
In a blog entry on the Barcode Society website, Io Interactive detailed these plans, including exactly how the Sniper Challenge, a stand-alone mini-game for those with pre-orders, came into existence.
“The team has been hard at work to create a great game for the Hitman fans and we’ve tried out many different things in the process. One of those things was an early prototype for sniper gameplay. It started out as two grey boxes with 47 on top of one and a target way off in the distance on the other. A few more items were added to shake things up a little and the thing was shared internally to see if it worked or not. It didn’t take long for the code to go viral across all of IO Interactive. Leaderboards were built, people started spending more and more time on it and we realized that this was something awesome. So we decided to expand upon it and make it in to a gift to everyone out there. A few of the guys rounded up some internal resources and started building the level out as a bonus to the fans that had been waiting for so long already.”
With online leaderboards and unlockables that transfer into Hitman: Absolution, there should be enough to keep budding assassins occupied until November. PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will be able to use a pre-order code to unlock the mini-game from May 15th. You can check out the trailer for it below.
Also of note in the blog entry was that the PC version, which will ship on the same day as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, will contain PC-exclusive features catered to the platform. There was no further explanation as to the specifics but we should know more “sometime after E3.” The PC version of the Sniper Challenge will be available through Steam from August 1st.
While it is a shame that Square Enix have been able to capitalise on the summer release window, as they did with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, we here at Dealspwn are still pleased to see that Agent 47 will be back with us once again this year.
