If you saw Thursday’s Dealspwn post where House of the Dead: Overkill was going for £11.99 (down from 14.98) and although tempted – your mouse cursor indecisively hovering over the link – you finally managed to restrain yourself, then good news. Your indecision has paid off.
The price of this game has been slashed once again by almost 50% to a ridiculous £6.79. However, if you did end up taking advantage of the previous offer (which was still good at the time) my condolences as I know exactly how you feel. I spent £30 on a jacket the other day only to see it in the sale yesterday for a tenner!
However, most people will probably already be familiar with the format of House of the Dead from the prior additions. You basically follow a predetermined course through the levels while blasting various types of homicidal mutants as they lunge at you left right and centre. The game is a lot of fun given the fact you can you blow off heads and limbs in an orgy of bloodshed and listen as the main characters eff and blind there way through the levels.
One slight drawback which was touched upon in the previous post, is that the game is very easy. Bosses have predictable patterns which mean they never offer a significant challenge, while the levels – although they offer plenty to massacre – can almost always be accomplished on the first attempt. The gameplay is hilarious however and the visuals are some of the best on the Nintendo Wii. I think it’s safe to assume the price will not be dropping lower any time soon, so I’d get in there while you can.
