Dark Energy Digital have announced that Hydrophobia Prophecy is in development for PSN and Steam - and will deliver a "reinvention" of the XBLA exclusive title that failed to garner more than mixed critical reviews. Apparently we can expect overhauled graphics, voice acting, backstory and masses of added content, and we have the full story below.
After a massive amount of constructive (and occasionally insulting) user feedback about the original Hydrophobia, Dark Energy Digital plan to completely upgrade the experience in this new version. Expect "upgraded graphics, brand new gameplay mechanics, exclusive new levels, a reworked back story, a dramatic new ending, recast voice acting and much, much more." Carl gave the original a 7/10, though Dark Energy Digital took personal offence to much lower scores from several outlets. A new in-game developer feedback system known as Darknet will allow them to continually patch and improve the experience over time and to adapt to user preferences.
We could’ve just ported Hydrophobia Pure over to Steam and PSN after the positive response it received, but we decided to go much further. The community really blew us away with the incredible response to Hydrophobia Pure and the outstanding level of feedback on the listening post, so we wanted to return the favour and ensure we created a bigger and better experience in every possible respect with Hydrophobia Prophecy for Steam and PSN – Pete Jones, Dark Energy Digital
Hydrophobia Prophecy launch on Steam on 9th May and can be pre-purchased for £7.64 (including 15% pre-purchase discount) with a PSN version announcement to follow. We'll keep you posted.
