Hyperkin are an independent video game hardware developer from Los Angeles who on Wednesday (April 1st) decided to announce their plans on Reddit to release a Gameboy compatible device for Apple iPhone 6 Plus, although originally planned as an April Fool's Day prank, the 'Smartboy' has now been confirmed with a press release from Hyperkin as a 'fully fledged project for consumer release'
The 'Smartboy' boasts compatibility with both Gameboy and Gameboy Colour cartridges, "an eight-way D-pad; two action buttons; a start and select button; and an included battery that can be charged through the phone itself providing 5 hours of gameplay. The gameplay itself will output through the iPhone 6 Plus’ own screen."
Hyperkin are also said to be "working on an open side-panel version for Android phones".
