Indie RPG Rimelands: Hammer Of Thor Seeks Funding For PC Version

Dicework Games are seeking crowd funding in order to bring the excellent iOS RPG Rimelands: Hammer Of Thor to PC.

I awarded Rimelands: Hammer Of Thor 4/5 over at our sister site Mobot.net, and noted that the PC and Mac versions have been on the cards since 2011. However, turning an app into a full HD version has proven extremely costly, and thus Dicework Games are using crowd funding site IndieGoGo to appeal for extra development cash.

The PC and Mac version of Rimelands will be a total reimagining of the game, including rewritten story, new user interface and improved visuals. As a new, previously unannounced feature, there'll also be an in-depth level editor. You can try the demo here.

Here's the full pitch: so check it out, play the demo and decide whether you want to get involved.

Rimelands is a roleplaying game a lot like many dungeon-crawling board and pen and paper games. It's a polished product in a genre that's often ignored by larger studios. The setting is an unique blend of steampunk and fantasy elements. It combines old school mechanics with streamlined modern gameplay, offers an intriguing story with an abundance of real-world mythology and great visuals.

The original iPhone game received a lot of praise, and the new PC version will not only take it up a notch, but to a whole different level. And there's none of that dull grinding here.

Rimelands: Hammer of Thor won the Best Mobile Game category in Unity Awards 2010. It’s MetaScore is 8.9.

The Quotes:

  • “An excellent turn based RPG which anyone can enjoy, even casual gamers.”
  • ”Rimelands: Hammer of Thor is simply one of the highest quality traditional role-playing game experiences available on the app store.”
  • “I don't typically love turn-based strategy games, but Rimelands had me hooked almost instantly.”

I wish there was an RPG about Rimmerworld, I'd sponsor the development of that for sure "He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer, Without him life would be much grimmer, He's handsome, trim, and no-one slimmer, He will never need a zimmer"

It would be a great game to develop - All you'd need is 5 minutes content - after that no one would want to play it again!
