We were all a bit miffed when Insomniac's Overstrike - the four-way FPS title that they showed off at E3 2011 - failed to make an appearance in LA or Cologne this year. However, Ted Price took to the stage at PAX Prime to deliver a keynote speech that came with the unveiling of a brand new IP from Insomniac that's supposedly an overhauled version of that previous project, named Fuse.
During the speech, a slide emerged with a teasing bit of concept art (see above) and Price announced a site with a countdown timer that looks expire on September 12th.
Game Informer have suggested that Fuse is a massive reworking of Overstrike, which makes us a little disappointed, as the latter had looked like it might actually inject a little variety into the FPS market. Moreover, it was to be Insomniac's first multiplatform title in 15 years. We'll put Overstrike in the missing in action field alongside Prey 2 until we get confirmation.
Ah well, there's still Borderlands 2 to look forward to.
