Not quite the Golden Eye we all hoped for, the latest Bond title did little to break the cycle of mind-numbingly average film tie-ins. But at this price delivered to your door we think the averageness is happily compensated for as there’s certainly a good few hours of gameplay here for under a fiver! Game is managing to undercut everyone, even its closest rivals ShopTo.Net by £3 at this price.
We’d be remiss in our jobs if we tried to pretend this is a hit PS3 title, despite its tipple-A franchise the game falls short of that. Not that it’s a total stinker, the main culprits here are its predictable nature and the corridor design to its levels. Combine those with AI that’d makes pre-schoolers look like Carol Vorderman, and as a full-priced game it disappoints when compared to the raft of top-notch shooters that are out there. But for less than £5? That’s good news for everyone and you can probably flog it afterwards...
Let’s not be too hard on the game either; it certainly looks the part with well designed levels and great art assets, running we’re told on the Call of Duty 4 engine. Equally the sound has been lavished with attention to detail with good voice acting and an excellent soundtrack that makes the most of the atmosphere. While you might only get five or six hours out of the single player game, there’s also a perfectly good selection of online multiplayer modes. So if you want to while away the hours taking out players online you won’t go too far wrong here.
