J.K. Simmons Grabs A Role In Portal 2

If you were excited when you found out that Stephen Merchant was voicing a character named Wheatley in Portal 2, another brilliant addition to the cast has been made in the form of J.K. Simmons, who'll be playing Aperture Science president and founder Cave Johnson!

At the moment, it would seem that Johnson is more of a guide than a character that players will interact with, so you can expect to find pre-recorded messages of him to help you on your way, one of which sounds a little something like this:

Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is we're postponing those test indefinitely. The good news is we've got a much better test for you: Fighting an army of Mantis Men.

For people like me who are big fans of Mr. Simmons work, you might be wondering how big this role is. Luckily, Valve's Erik Wolpaw has the answer:

You'll hear a lot of him.

That is very good news indeed, because I'm sure he'll bring another splash of humour to the mix. [Joystiq]

I like Stephen Merchant but when the second P2 trailer came out with him voicing Wheatley, it just sounded wrong. Would much rather have a generic voice actor for that role than someone recognisable. Pre-recorded messages should be fine though for JKS.
