Jump high, dig deep in Titanfall's next map pack

Titanfall's next season pass map pack -- Frontier's Edge -- has started revealing its secrets. The first of the three new maps is Dig Site, a deep quarry that gives Titans plenty of cover to negotiate while pilots leap overhead or brutally face off atop massive mining equipment.

We've got a first look at the new stage below.

Set in an enormous active quarry, Dig Site is protected on all side by sheer rock walls that delineate the level bounds, yet should also grant canny pilots a great vantage point. "The site becomes a bloody ground war characterized by titan skirmishes over subtle elevation changes in the terrain, and a mix of short and medium-range engagements for pilots," explains Respawn Entertainment.

Dig Site's mining rigs and support structures create narrow claustrophobic lanes for Titans to brawl over as pilots secure overwatch on the gantries above. There ought to be plenty of opportunities for flanking manoeuvres both in Hardpoint and Last Titan Standing by the looks of things.

Respawn still hasn't announced a release date, but will share more details on the two remaining Frontier's Edge maps next week. Here's hoping that we won't have to wait too long, especially now that the matchmaking experience has noticeably improved -- not to mention the metagame. Heh - just be glad they reduced it from 50 to 5!

See a couple of titans fighting, stand back from them with your chain gun (w/ accelerator) primed, and hope the enemy pilot doesn't cloak. You can still get him if he does cloak, but it's obviously a lot easier if you can see him instead of having to imagine trajectory and hope to see a slight vapour trail or jet-pack thrust.

Not sure whether I'll get this map pack. I thoroughly enjoyed the game - and the first map pack - but I've not played in a while now.

@Late: Yeah, finished with my Arc Cannon challenges (loving that weapon now, can't believe it took me so long to take it seriously) - will definitely switch to chain gun to mop up! (_;)

Glad to hear that you didn't pre-order the season pass, that's a smart move. 8) Cherry-picking content or just waiting for all of it before making a decision is definitely the way to go. Naturally I'll review it once it releases!
