Creator Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that Kid Icarus: Uprising will feature Circle Pad Pro support, but perhaps not in the way you might think. Instead of using the dual pads to optionally ditch the slightly uncomfortable sing pad and stylus controls, the Circle Pad Pro will instead be used to provide lefties a legitimate control option.
"The way we are using the Circle Pad Pro in the game is to provide support for left-handed gamers," said Sakurai in an interview with ONM. "We've made it possible to use the right Circle Pad in place of the left one."
Sakurai explained that by the time Monster Hunter 3G was announced, there was no time to fully integrate the Circle Pad Pro into the game, not in a big way anyway.
"I didn't know the specs of the Circle Pad Pro, or what it looked like, until Monster Hunter 3G was announced, so we weren't able to do anything big with it in the time we had. Even if we had known about it from the start, I don't know whether we would have used both Circle Pads in that way."
On top of that, he's not entirely sure as to whether or not it would have made the game better.
"This would end up being just the same as controls on other platforms and I think the quick aiming possible with the touch panel suits the game best."
The Circle Pad Pro launches over here alongside Resident Evil: Revelations on January 27th.
