Killer Is Dead Flounders In Japan

Killer Is Dead, the latest game from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, has not exactly fared brilliantly in its first week in Japan, debuting at number five in the Media Create Charts.

The stats show that the PlayStation 3 version of Killer Is Dead sold 17,709 units in its debut week. The Xbox 360 version came in 36th place. By way of comparison, Grasshopper's  earlier game, Lollipop Chainsaw, sold 53,347 on PS3 in its first week.

Killer Is Dead was pipped to the post by four 3DS games: new title Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life shifted 119,154 units, with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (40,203), Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (32,537), and Friend Collection: New Life (21,313) making up the remainder of the top five.

Killer Is Dead released on August 1st in Japan. It’s comes to the UK on August 30th, and the States on August 27th.  [via Gamespot]
