Kojima: MGS Fans wanting 'Authentic Stealth' Should 'Patiently Wait For The Sequel'

Hideo Kojima, Kojima Productions, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid, Platinum Games

Just a quickie, this one, but following on from yesterday's extra Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance details, Kojima took to Twitter once again after the US presser yesterday to alleviate concerns that the action-oriented spin-off would spell a new dawn for the MGS series as a whole.

Kojima said that for Rising, he and his team were aiming for "feel-good action", a sentiment shared by Platinum, who've picked up the half-finished game and will complete work on it. Kojima also added that those fans looking forward to the return of "authentic stealth" should "patiently wait for the sequel coming in future".

Oooh, what a tease. Anyway, here's the tweet in full:

Had same kind of questions @today's conf. Our ex-RISING also were aiming at feel good action w/ protagonist, Raiden as a Spin-off, not MGS & such concept was shared w/ New RISING by P*. For those of you desire for authentic stealth MGS, I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in future.

Konami have said that a special documentary charting the development, demise and resurrection of the project will go live on the MGS website tonight at 1am GMT (or 5pm PST/8pm EST if you're Stateside).

Fans waiting for "authentic stealth" should probably leave MGS alone and play Hitman or Splinter Cell instead of a series of games whose gameplay is still stuck in the 1998 PS1 days.

I admire Kojima; not for the games he has produced but for being able to accumulate such a loyal fanbase who are willing to lap up some of the rubbish that he produces and call it art.

Sorry if that is not a popular view, but I've never seen the attraction of MGS since the very first "solid" game.
