Confirms Touchscreen Support... And Ezio?
Rumoured platforming sequel Rayman Legends appears to be legit, thanks to a leaked trailer that shows off new footage and NFC support in the same vein as Skylanders. Just as excitingly, though, it's running on the Wii U, and demonstrates that Nintendo's new console does at least have some graphical grunt behind it.
Ubisoft are scurrying to remove the video from Youtube, but Gamekult have managed to host it. The trailer showcases Rayman Legend's mythological trappings, new playable characters and social aspects, while proudly proclaiming that the title features an "epic rendering engine." While it's hard to make a value judgement based on two minutes of gameplay, the rumours that the Wii U will at least match the PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of graphical output seem to be on the money.
Rayman Legends' Wii U version will allow players to use the touchscreen controller as a seperate screen, with touchscreen support used to manipulate platforms and scenery elements. Multiplayer will let us set our own challenges for our friends to complete.
The trailer also outs NFC support for Rayman Legends - i.e. that Ubisoft plans to release a line of toys and collectibles that can be summoned into the game. Naturally the loathsome Rabbids made an appearance, but excitingly, an Ezio Auditore figure is also on the cards. We can't wait to see if he's playable...
