The original Left 4 Dead shoehorned intense cooperative action and survival horror into a single polished experience- and the sequel adds a few new twists to the formula. Dedicated melee weapons are a great way of beating down the infected hordes, but you'll need every new explosive and boomstick in the expanded arsenal to take down the new special undead. Jockeys merrily ride survivors into dangerous situations, and chargers will do their best to smack them around something fierce. Many players didn't take to the new campy setting and annoying protagonists, but Left 4 Dead 2 is still a frantic FPS that raises the bar for cooperative excellence.
