LEGO Batman 3 goes up against The Arkham Knight

Unless Rocksteady's sequel has been delayed

The Batman game we deserve is going up against the Batman game we need.

I'm not entirely sure which is which, but either way, Warner Bros Interactive seems set to make this a mad Autumn for Batman Fans.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham has been officially revealed for "beginning of Autumn 2014" on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Wii U and last-gen systems. The Caped Crusader teams up with other heroes from the DC canon in an effort to stop Braniac from destroying the Earth by collecting Lantern Rings across the cosmos.

"Players will unlock more than 150 unique characters from the DC Comics universe, including members of the Justice League and LEGO big figures such as Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy and many more," explains the enthusiastic reveal blurb. "Fans of all ages will be able to control their favourite heroes and villains with new gadgets and abilities. Brainiac’s mind controlling abilities and the power of the Lantern rings bring unexpected twists to the classic characters’ personalities."

Gosh, DC really does have a rubbish extended lineup compared to Marvel, don't they? At least we can rely on Batman to do the business.

LEGO Batman 3 will also take us to some iconic locations including the Batcave, Halls Of Justice and Justice League watchtower, while Batman's Batcomputer houses a selection of virtual challenges.

Hopefully TT Games will atone for their disappointingly rushed and incomplete Hobbit tie-in, but it's interesting to see two Batman games releasing from the same publisher in the same launch window. After all, the massively anticipated Arkham Knight is slated for October... but may have been delayed if you read between the lines. The latest trailer refused to commit to a launch date - would WB be crazy enough to compete with themselves?

We'll find out soon enough. Hopefully they are, because I'd play both of these.

They're not competing with themselves. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting both :D

Loved the first two Arkham games (never did get very far on Arkham Origins - but that's mainly because I got it about 2 days before I got my xbox One, and I've not been back to last gen since), and have loved most of the Lego games, so both are must-buys for me. So long as they don't screw them up. Which seems unlikely, tbh.

where does telltale come into it?

@Late: Heh, same here - that's why I wrote that last line!

@gamr: Good spot, that was supposed to read "Traveller's Tales." Wolf Among Us on the brain - stay tuned for that review btw.
